"Emergency admission"

About: Royal Bournemouth General Hospital

I have diverticulitis and this was my second emergency admission to RBH. I was admitted to an admissions ward for one day which to be honest was chaotic, and badly run by the nursing staff. I was then moved to ward 16, where I was treated so well. Very little noise at night, friendly caring staff, from the cleaners right up. Saw several doctors and a consultant. Clean bathrooms and general areas. I am going to have surgery and feel confident.

Dear ‘Sundeerland2’ Thank you for sharing your feedback with us as it is important to hear what our patients think of the service we provide. I am sorry to hear that you felt the admissions unit was chaotic and badly run and I will make sure these issues are fed back to the ward and reviewed. However I feel it appropriate to mention that the nature of an admissions ward, where patients are admitted for rapid assessment before being moved to the appropriate ward, is always going to appear a little chaotic. I thank you for your praise of ward 16 and that you feel confident that you are on a clean and quiet ward and will be looked after by caring and friendly staff. We share all feedback with the relevant areas for training and improvement purposes and your comments will be reviewed by the ward sisters and shared at their team meetings Thank you again for your feedback and I wish you well with your surgery and recovery. Regards Sue Mellor Head of Patient Engagement
