My husband Arthur was admitted by ambulance to your hospital Sunday 13th July following a nasty fall which broke the head of the femur on his right leg. I cannot begin to express my gratitude for the absolutely brilliant treatment he received from so many departments. Ambulance service-at the accident scene before ten minutes. Wonderful, professional but supportive and gentle. A&E-totally focussed, efficient, interested and quickly made all the tests to discover the femur was broken. Sadly there was a complication, hypoxia caused by a fat embolism from the break site entering the lung and drastically reducing oxygen take up. Never the less they were positive and most encouraging. HDU, POCCU, ITA, back to HDU then on to Ward 4A from where he was discharged to our home in Hampshire, Tuesday lunch time. He had a full hip replacement but endured severe congestion of the lungs. Three days in POCCU, many days in ITU. Progressed to HDU and finally on to the general ward. There are so many others I cannot recall them all. Two staff from O.T, several physio's my golly what a wonderful team you all are. From the bottom of our hearts we say thank you to this brilliant hospital. The great people of Liverpool are so very fortunate to have such a facility as this. We never heard a moan, saw a miserable face, experienced discourtesy, only total care, professionalism and encouragement during some very heavy moments. Very little else to say but again an enormous thank you to everyone who gave me back my husband. I hope you continue to excel in all that you do. Yours most sincerely Arthur, Clare and Daphne Batson.
