"Outpatients clinic for neurosurgery"

Having waited for over an hour I was then accused of not booking in correctly which my friend was able to confirm that indeed I had. Another patient following me faced the same accusation. Finally my name was called and I followed a nurse to a room, the door wide open and with a hand motion said... in there....Limped into the room where someone was gazing at a computer, I sat down and waited until the person finally said... you have some pain.... The person neither checked who I was or introduced themself, very unprofessional. A consultant who I had previously seen at a private hospital came through a side door, walked around the back of me and asked are you any better to which I replied, sadly no. The rest of the appointment is too distressing to repeat and I burst into tears. Thankfully another neuro surgeon was recommended to me by an ex-working colleague and I had surgery in a private hospital which was a great success and words cannot express my gratitude as life has begun again. His kindness, care and compassion as well as his amazing surgical skill is overwhelming and myself and my family will forever be grateful. The lesson learned is.....always seek a second opinion before despairing and giving up on life.
