This relates to the new service tht has been put in place to cover patient transport services in the Essex area. Previously, this service was arranged within the Health Trust are. However I understand that this year this has merged with county - if not region-wide service - that seems to be based in the North East of England. Previously, the hospital would book patient transport for patients at the time of the end of the previous appointment.
However at relatives' recent appointment (May 2014), he phoned the centralised number to find they had no record of the booking. The call handler did not even know where the location of the town or hospital that the transport was meant for was. It became an emergency and eventually some transport was arranged. This has now happened again. There does not seem to be any coherent communication between the transport organisers and the hospitals - who are also losing records of appointments
