"Time wasted"

About: Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS)

(as the patient),

I went to my doctors in late April with back problems he then referred me to TRAQS. I was told you would be in touch within 2 weeks.

I heard nothing, rang the doctors they said it had been done and expected by yourselves, I then rang you up and was told there was no record, in this time my back had got worse.

I then had to ring these doctors again who did another referral. It has taken from late April to until mid-June to get this sorted, it has now resulted in me having to have time off work, when I could have been at a pain clinic.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the TRAQS team. I am disappointed to read of the problems you experienced with your initial referral. A few months ago some practices were experiencing a technical problem which meant that the referral information was not being passed to TRAQS. It appears that you were one of the patients affected and I can only apologise that your had such an experience. TRAQS provide a supply of a Patient Information Leaflet to practices which should be given to all patients who are being referring via TRAQS so that they are aware of what happens hext. Generally we would expect patients to have been contacted by TRAQS within 5 working days of us receiving the referral and certainly within 10 working days. If you have been referred via TRAQS and have not been contacted within this time frame we are always happy to check for patients that the referral has been received to avoid unnecessary delay.
