After an appointment with my consultant at Spinal Injuries Centre, on friday 25th July, I headed back toward to my car which was parked in Car Park B in a disabled space. I am full time wheelchair user. I pushed myself up the very long uneven surfaced ramp from the entrance between Xray & Out patients. At the end of the ramp where it meets the car park the surface is full of pot holes loose gravel & generally in a dreadful state & in need of repair. It has been in this condition for a number of years generally deteriorating. I am usually aware of the best way to navigate over such surfaces. However on Friday, at 14. 30 my front wheels caught on a hole and I fell badly out of my chair. Fortunately I fell sideways and not onto my face. I did however sustain extensive bruising to my arm & hand. Plus a small laceration. Staff came from an old office block which is not marked on your map & were extremely helpful aiding me back to my chair and sat with me until I felt able to continue to my car >The staff were fantastic, But did share my view that the car park is really dangerous & needs repair. I have been attending the hospital for 7 years & have nothing but praise for your work. But this is one area that needs seem serious attention. Before somone else sustains a serious injury
