This NHS website states the average waiting time from GP referral is 7 weeks. Well, I've been waiting since 1 May (12 weeks this Thursday). I've spoken to the gastro secretarys a couple of times a few weeks ago & explained I'm getting new symptoms & they advised a consultant has left and (1) consultants are staying longer to do extra appts & (2) it would be another couple of months. Yesterday I received a letter thinking it would be an appointment but instead it advised me 'there's no need to contact the hospital, when an appt becomes available they'll let me know'. I've actually had these problems for a year and seen no one about them, it's outrageous. No doubt when the letter finally does come it won't be an immediate date. I reckon I'm looking at Xmas at this rate! If I continue to worsen I will be holding the hospital responsible as they've been made aware several times. The waiting times following referral definitely need updating from 7 weeks to a minimum of 12 weeks.
