"75 y.o discharged but had to wait 7 hours for..."

About: St James's University Hospital

An elderly relative was discharged on a Sunday morning from Bexley Wing but had to wait in the hospital waiting room until 6pm for a prescription to arrive internally. They then forgot one element and had to make another trip. I felt this was quiet inconsiderate. Advice for fellow patients: ask for a prescription to take with you for a 20 minute wait in the comfort of your own pharmacy.

Dear Anonymous Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. I am very sorry that your relative had to wait such a long time for their prescription. I have passed your comments on to the Pharmacy Manager. Our Pharmacy Department are currently making a number of improvements to discharge medication dispensing. We recognise the frustrations and discomfort these delays cause. If you would like to discuss this in more detail please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) either on 0113 2067168 or email patient.relations@leedsth.nhs.uk With kind regards Scott Senior Nurse Patient Experience
