"Lack of staff?"

About: Heartlands Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as a relative),

My wife recently spent 4 weeks in ward 9 heartlands hospital she had 1 shower in that time in her folder they wrote she was incontinent after pressing the buzzer for over half an hour she wet the bed, the armrest was broken on the bed but the daily check said it was okay- a get well card on the floor at the head of the bed was there for 6 days floor not cleaned- people using a commode next to the bed why were they not pushed into the toilets staff had to use air freshners afterwards. I feel this is disgusting and degrading for patients and visitors.

Dear upset husband

I am really sorry to hear of the experience both you and your wife experienced during your wife's stay on Ward 9 at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital. I would be more than happy to look into this for you if you wish and can be contacted through the Patient Services Team on 0121 424 0808.

Kind regards

Margaret Mitchell
