"Misinforme?d throughout?, rude staff who couldn't..."

About: Leicester General Hospital

After days on the recovery ward, I was told that I 'wasn't allowed to leave' until I was discharged. Having never been in hospital before, I was not aware of the discharge process. I was exhausted after the birth and had very little opportunity to sleep because of the staff constantly banging and shouting about at night. I said that I wanted to leave the ward and was told by many staff that I 'couldn't'. I was never informed that I could have discharged myself at any time! On revisiting my hospital records months later, I saw that someone even had the nerve to write in them that 'she feels she is being held against her will'! I also don't think its right that staff just invited themselves to sit on the bed when I was in it and have private chats between themselves. As for being 'so busy', if this is the case, then why are so many of them just hanging around making a nuisance of themselves? Really rude and unprofessional people who couldn't care less about other peoples feelings

Dear reviewer, Thank you for taking the time to post your comment. We are really sorry to hear about your experience on our maternity unit at the General. It is unacceptable for our staff to behave this way and does not reflect the level of care we expect our patients to receive. We would like to look into your case and meet with you to disucss your experience so we can improve our services for the future. If you are happy for us to do so, could you send your details to senior midwife, Joan Morrissey on Joan.Morrissey@uhl-tr.nhs.uk. Kind regards, Communications team, Leicester’s Hospitals
