"The staff are excellent and display total professionalism"

About: Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust / Mental Health Services for Older People – Inpatient

(as the patient),

I have recently spent 6 weeks in Daybrook Ward at Nottingham City Hospital being treated for depression.

In my opinion this ward meets the highest standards of care for patients. It is a modern unit with small wards two day rooms and an outside area and a separate dining room.

The staff are excellent and display total professionalism in dealing with patients. I was seen as a weekly basis by the consultant Dr Hadi, who explained the treatment provided and was kind and considerate throughout.

The ward is spotlessly clean, the food is good and health and safety regulations are observed.

I understand the ward is due for closure in October 2014 and I trust most patients and their relatives will express their views in the hope the NHS will reconsider and keep the ward open.

Thank you for posting about your positive experience on Daybrook Ward. It is great to hear that all aspects of the care you received and the environment were of a very high standard. I will ensure your comments are sent through for all the staff to read on the ward.

The proposals regarding the closure of the ward will be part of a public consultation that is due to commence in mid August for a six week period. Please contact me on 0115 854 2234 to give me your contact details so I can pass on the relevant information, when it is available, for you to be involved in the consultation.

Thank you again for taking the time to post on Patient Opinion.
