I was advised by the duty doctor at my surgery to go to hospital as I had a suspected kidney infection with a fever and chills. It came on very suddenly after I had already been treated for a bout of cystitis. I felt very poorly.
The accident and emergency department was quiet at 5 o'clock on a Friday evening. I was in a bed in the department by about 7. I had blood tests, urine tests, an x Ray, a saline drip and an antibiotic drip and prescription to take home, all by 10 o' clock!
I had the choice to stay in hospital if I had wanted.
All I can say is the NHS is at it's best at times like this. All the staff were pleasant and kind.
