"Over 8 weeks to type a letter !! Not good enough"

About: Kettering General Hospital

I arrived for my follow up appointment to be told that the Consultant would not see me as my file was not up to date. I was told there was in excess of 8 weeks delay with the typing up of letters. Surely KGH you knew this before I arrived. You even sent me a reminder by text the day of the appointment ! Apparently KGH are trying to get more staff to type letters. So, if anyone out there needs a job, apply now! My appointment was re-booked for two months later. Yes two months. I contacted PALS to see if they could help but sadly they are just as incompetent as KGH. In the meantime my health is suffering, I took time off work to attend the appointment and I am no further along with my care. If it was me that had simply not turned up for the appointment, I would have been taken off the list or put to the bottom. I should not be made to wait two months for your error KGH!!!! What is the NHS coming to ?

Please accept our sincere apologies that you have had to wait such an unacceptable length of time for your letter, as you stated this is being addressed as we have increased the number of admin staff we have to help clear this. We have also increased the number of consultants we have to help reduce our waiting times and have also introduced urgent slots twice a week for patients to be seen when they are experiencing difficulties. This additional capacity has resulted in more admin work for the team which has created a backlog, which as I stated is being reduced currently.
