"Is it common practice to forget to order patients'..."

When my mother was staying on Ward 1 this week she felt intimidated during the night by other patients on the ward who were swearing at her in a threatening manner. When she pushed her buzzer no staff came to attend so she went looking to find them (she was also not given her evening medication including vital heart drugs such as statins). When she tried to find any staff on the ward to enquire about this she found no staff present. When she eventually found the staff they were all in one room watching television - and when she enquired about her evening medication she was told that they had forgotten to order it. Is this common practice? Do the records of the hospital show that no evening time medication was ordered for Ward 1 on the 4th June 2014?? My mother asked to sleep in another bed and was told there were none and she was consequently taken to a room where she was told to sleep in a chair. Is this the kind of respect that is afforded to elderly patients? She did not feel safe on the ward. She did not want to make a complaint but occurrences like this should not ignored.
