"Outstnading care within the Maternity Unit :)"

About: Leighton Hospital

Throughout my pregnancy I receieved excellent care from both the Community Midwives (Thank you!) and the staff at the Antenatal Clinic. I was treated with dignity and respect, involved in all discussions regarding my care and my personal feelings were taken into consideration when discussing my care plan. The quality of care I received while in labour (thank you) was outstanding, I felt safe, listened to and respected. Having been a guest on the antenatal ward and the postnatal ward I can honestly say how brilliant the staff are, supportive and understanding (thank you). The ward has a happy but calm atmosphere with very caring and passionate staff that take the time to listen to any concerns. I needed some help with breast feeding my son and I received excellent support on the ward even after I became unwell, Unfortunately I became rather poorly 48hrs after I had given birth to my son but the staff were extremely quick to act and after a short stay back on the Labour Ward (as I required close monitoring) I was soon back on the postnatal ward then was discharged home. The knowledge of the staff, their passion and drive to treat each patient as an individual not a number and provide everyone with outstanding care is evident. I had my first child at Leighton a number of years previously and would have rated the care I received as poor at best, however clearly things have changed and the staff deserve being praised for what they have achieved in just a few years. Once again, thank you to all the staff that looked after us both - you are all amazing :)

Thank you very much for finding the time to post your comments. We always aim to give the women and their families the best experience possible. There are occasions when things do not always go to plan and unfortunately women have to revisit us on the labour ward. I am pleased that all went well despite the set back and that you received good care throughout your stay. I will pass on your wonderful comments to all the staff. It is a great morale booster to the staff who work extremely hard to achieve this. Many thanks once again. Denise Horne, Labour ward manager.
