"Somerset Mental Health Non-Care"

About: Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust / Adult community mental health

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

Shudder to mention the lack of care and support & genuine concern, basic needs for vulnerable people in Taunton Mental Health NHS in what seems a stressful, struggling service. Staff seem unmotivated, careless in how they speak almost having the opposite effect in making people feel worthless, and left asking why they ever bothered in the first instant. Is this intentional? Seems to me I'm not the only person left feeling very distraught in the system at Foundation House, as many in the waiting seemed just of the same opinion. What's up there?

Response from Karen Howard-Grenville, PALS, Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

Thank you for taking the time to arrange for your experience to be posted on this site.

I was sorry to read of the concerns that you have and the poor experience that you have recently had within the adult community mental health team. I have passed your posting to the manager of the service for comment, which will appear on this website in due course.

However, if you would like to discuss your experience with the PALS service and/or the manager, I would be happy to arrange a meeting. If this is the case you could call or write to the Patient Advice and Liaison Service, (PALS), 2nd Floor, Mallard Court, Express Park, Bristol Road, Bridgwater, TA6 4RN, or call me on 01278 432022.
