"Very unhappy, have been treated badly"

About: Manchester Royal Infirmary

I have a serious illness and was hoping that the consultant would explain why I am getting certain symptoms and how to treat them. I felt that my concerns were not listened to and I was contradicted. I know how I am feeling, the consultant doesn't. He should have listened and told me whether my symptoms are related to my illness. As it stands I have no idea why I am in constant pain or what any of the symptoms mean. Now I have to go and ask for another consultant who will take me seriously.

We are very sorry to receive your comments and concerns via the Patient Opinion website about your experiences in the Gastroenterology Service. It is very difficult to respond to the specific concerns you have raised without being able to investigate in detail. We take all issues surrounding patient care very seriously and would very much like to hear from you directly about this. We would like the opportunity to work with you to manage your condition and to share your experience of our service with the clinical team involved so we can understand how our communication with you can be improved. If you contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 0161 276 8686 or by e-mailing pals@cmft.nhs.uk they will be happy to discuss this with you.
