had a stroke in Sept.2008. I was in a lot of pain both prior to this happening and after it had occurred and lost part of my sight. I felt the need to attend A&E at Basildon a while after it ocurred as I was still having terrible head pains and pressure behind my eyes. I told the doctor? in A&E that I had just had a stroke and was fearful of having another due to the pain.He told me "we do not admit patients here if they have had a stroke". I questioned him again as I could not believe what I was hearing and he stated "we send them home and then they come in when they get an appointment". From what I read it is is extremely important that you get assessed and treatment given urgently as this can assist in reducing the disabilities you are left with.
Do not go to Basildon if you have a potentially serious condition, they would prefer you to expire at home.
