I was 45 years old when diagnosed with breast cancer at Pilgrim hospital Breast department. I had a wire guided lumpectomy and few lymph gland taking out from my arm pit.
The results came back after two weeks that I have to go ahead with completion mastectomy which means removal of the whole breast. Although loosing the breast is a big decision but I felt it would save my life. I have 3 kids and a lovely husband and also all my family came with me to my appointment to help me making the right decision.
I have to say that all member of Boston Breast department were very helpful and made it easy for me to make my decision. After my operation, I have started the difficult part of my treatment which is chemotherapy then a new drugs called Herceptin. Although I did not finish the Herceptin but I must say that Dr Intrivinci, the consultant oncology helped me with the oncology nurses to pass through this difficult time.
I have to say being a breast cancer patient has changed my life and I became more sociable and care about other people. I helped with my family, friends, doctors, nurses and secretary in the breast department in Boston to raise almost £8000 in one night to help buying new and modern equipments for the department to assist other patients.
I felt that I am a new member of Boston Breast family and with the help of Nurses, Doctors and Secretary, I am happy to help other patients to get through and survive the scary word which is CANCER.
