I have had several bad experiences involving doctors, hospital staff, counsellors and mental health services over the last few years.
My most recent experience being discovered I had a physical condition, and was taken into hospital one night. Two days later, a surgeon told me that they wouldn't find anything (before and without doing the X-ray and ultrasound I was meant to be having) and that maybe I should try some CBT, because I was causing my physical pain and symptoms because of my mental illness. In what should have been a physical related consultation, I was asked personal probing questions, which made me very upset. I was turned away and told to go home, without ordered tests for my condition, to find out what was going on physically. I was treated as if I was completely bonkers and imagining all my pain. I left the hospital feeling suicidal at the ignorance and neglect I felt as a patient.
"Why wasn't my physical illness addressed?"
