I am writing with concern about my son who suffers from schizophrenia, is a Trust patient and is currently residing at Redhill farm, Bestwood Lodge Drive, Arnold Nottingham. During early November 2013 he was both physically and mentally unwell and because of their concern, the staff made repeated attempts to contact his consultant without success.
As a result, my wife and I wrote to the consultant in late November 2013 asking for an explanation for this and requesting that the consultant should contact the manager at Redhill Farm to explain how we could contact the manager or an appropriate person in the event of any further relapses.
We also requested that the consultant contact ourselves to discuss further important aspects of our sons care quoting our e-mail address and telephone number.
To date the consultant has neither contacted ourselves nor Redhill Farm in response to our letter, not even an acknowledgment and help had to be accessed through the GP and staff at the unit where he had previously resided. Neither did the consultant inform us that our sons' care had since been transferred to a different consultant.
I wish to state in the strongest possible terms my concern and disgust with this at a time that my son was going through a crisis.
As carers for our son, I feel that my wife and I have a right to be kept informed at all times on matters concerning his care.
