"Very good care in Horton Hospital"

About: Horton General Hospital

I have recently had a hysterectomy at the hospital. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and informative. The surgeon was brilliant, leaving me with hardly any pain or discomfort, allowing me to go home after just two days. I also had several discussions with other doctors and the anaesthetist so I knew what was happening. The food was pretty good, and the ward was regularly cleaned. On my pre-op visits I was never kept waiting. I have no complaints whatever about my treatment. The only problem I saw, although it didn't affect me, was that a lady in my ward who was due to go home had to wait 6 hours for the discharge letter from the doctor. Her husband arrived to collect her at 2pm and they finally left after 8pm. They were not happy.

Thank you for your very kind comments regarding your recent treatment at the Horton Hospital. It is always nice for the Trust to hear when things go well and I am very pleased that you received the service you would expect. Your positive feedback will be passed on to the staff responsible for your care and should you wish to contact the Trust directly with any further comments or concerns please do not hesitate to contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 01865 221473 or at palsjr@ouh.nhs.uk and a PALS Officer will be happy to help I am very sorry to read that one of the patients on the ward had to wait for discharge paperwork as this is not a standard of care we find acceptable. We are always happy to investigate any issues raised by patients and provide a response. In order to do this we advise patients to contact the Complaints team on 01865 221728 or at complaints@ouh.nhs.uk and a member of the team will be happy to discuss the complaint process.
