We have no complaint whatsoever about the clinical treatment at the A&E department, but: when I arrived I was ignored by the receptionist, who was obviously very busy with her computer. You might have expected her to look up and check that I was not an injured person in need of immediate attention, rather than a worried mum who had just been informed that her son had had an accident at work, involving a circular saw. But no. Her screen was evidently her only priority. Eventually I gave up and headed through the door to find my son, who was being well, if wearily, attended. What really depressed him, he later reported, was the back-biting attitude of many of the staff. Repeated grumbles about the state of this dressing and so-and-so should have known better, etcetera, are just so unnecessary and destructive. It's obviously a stressful, unpredictable place to work, but please, have some professionalism in your attitude towards each other; you must be demoralising yourselves as well as your patients, who are already be feeling traumatised before they get to you.
"good treatment, bad attitude"
