"The speed at which my illness ..."

About: Selly Oak Hospital (Acute)

(as the patient),

What I liked

The speed at which my illness was investigated.

The overall approachable nature of the doctors, especially the younger ones, who genuinely addressed patients as people and not cases.

What could be improved

The professionalism of the nursing staff. On the whole they were largely inefficient, medications were often late - or they would overide the decisions of the doctors and not give out prescribed medication, my isolated room had dirty laundry left in for a day and was not cleaned in the four days that I was there, treatment of elderly patients was rude and very patronising (I found it very stressful just to observe), and some thought it was fine to discuss their personal gossip loudly in the middle of the night whilst sick patients were attempting to sleep. Nursing is a caring profession - once a nurse stops caring it's time to leave the profession.

Anything else?

Why does it take an entire day to receive discharge prescriptions from pharmacy?
