(as the patient),

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in October, have had Chemotherapy, in ward 3c. I have had fantastic care. The breast cancer nurse, Lorraine, was so supportive. Miss Whitford and Dr Lucy Scott have been so wonderful.

I had a mastectomy and total node clearance last Monday. I was a patient in ward 5A. I thought my care was out of this world. I felt so safe and had no apprehension about my care.

There was a student nurse, called Grace Cairns, who was a true, professional, kind and caring nurse in the making. I still have a drain in, and know when I have it removed, I will have no fear. What fantastic care you give to your cancer patients.

Dear tric11,

It must have been such a shock to be diagnosed with cancer and very scary facing the unknown world of diagnosis, results and treatments. I am so glad you had the best care from a great team. I have worked very closly with the staff in the breast service and it is very pleasing to know how happy you are with the care you got from so many profesionals of some of whom I have had the great pleasure to work along side. It is also wonderful to know that you found Grace to be so professional, kind and caring. We are lucky to have her and students like her for the future of our service.

I will pass your thanks to the manager of that service and to each member of the staff, I know it will be very much appreciated by them all.

Thank you for publishing my story and so glad staff and doctors, got to see it, so elated today, surgeon got all my cancer away. I forgot to thank the staff from clinic 2A, what can I say, brilliant care from clerkess right up to Doctors, I cannot thank Crosshouse hospital, enough, thank you for saving my life, and allowing me to see my daughter grow up. xxxxxcc

Dear tric11,

I am sure this will all have been such a roller coaster ride for you and your family but it is wonderful to hear such a fantastic outcome. I will make sure that 2A staff also get your thanks, it sounds like everyone deserves it for your great care and great result, what more can we ask? It is at times like this that the things that really matter to us come to the surface and puts so much in prespective. I am sure you will enjoy every moment of your daughter growing up, they grow up so fast.
