"Still waiting"

About: Queen's Hospital (Romford)

I've been off work for 12 weeks after 7 weeks I finally got to see my consultant. I was told I had two prolapsed discs which have trapped the sciatic nerve causing constant pain.I was told that although he had a long waiting list he would make every effort to operate as soon as possible. Having waited for some sort of news for over a month I am told that they are only accepting people for ops in April who were seen last October. On that basis I am unlikely to receive treatment before September. I am self employed and have lost 3 months income as it is. Now I could loose another 6 to 7 months income not to mention the constant pain. So so far I'm afraid my review is not a good one. Obviously I can't comment on actual treatment etc as I haven't received any yet. The other point is I am a referral from Bromfield as all their consultants seem to of vanished at the same time.

Thank you for commenting on NHS Choices. I am sorry that you are in constant pain and haven’t had a date for your procedure confirmed. Your financial concerns must also be very worrying. For me to be able to look into your case I will need further information from you. Please contact me through our PALS team on 01708 435 454 or email PALS@bhrhospitals.nhs.uk. Yours sincerely, Stephen Burgess Medical Director
