What could be improved
I really need to know what to expect after undergoing Delorme's procedure.ie roughly how long it will take begin to feel normal and not have to use incontinence pads. The surgery seems to have exacerbated what was mild incontinence and did not prevent me from taking part in normal activities. At the moment I am afraid to leave home because I have no control over my bowel. I have halted the laxatives prescribed. I return to the hospital in six weeks but in the meantime, I would like more advice and reassurance. My GP did not know what delorme's procedure is.
Anything else?
Just before my operation I was presented with a choice of anaesthetic, general or regional.I think this could have been put to me before at the preop stage. The same goes for the consent form which you do not see until the surgeon visits you immediately before the operation. This is a highly significant document which requires thorough perusal and reflexion.
