"Trinity ward"

In September 2013 I gave birth to my first child at chesterfield birth center. The 3 midwifes who helped me through my 26 hr labour were fantastic! However I was shocked to be moved onto a ward Only a few hrs after delivering. When I first arrived on trinity I didn't see much of my midwife who was ment to be looking after me or my baby no observations performed just a tick box question If I'd got a cannula. I was trying to breast feed and I must admit the feeding assistance was fantastic and very patient as my little one was not wanting to feed. After about 2hrs sleep I wasn't woken by my baby but a midwife Saying it was time to feed my baby it was 2 am. My baby wasn't interested in feeding and became very distressed scratching her face Despite numerous attempts of the midwife pushing my babies face into my breast. The midwife didn't give up and was attempting to syringe breast milk from my nipple! I said I,d had enough and would try again in the morning. In the morning we were woken buy a women handing out breakfasts who pulled my curtain back with no warning, I was a temping to breast feed. Throughout the day I had voiced concerns about how drowsy my baby had been and wasn't even sure she had a wet nappy. Numerous times I was told this buy the midwives and even by the dr who reviewed my baby and in her report said everything was normal. I decided late afternoon I want to go home as I wanted to see my community midwife as trinity staff didn't seem to care that my baby was jaundice and drowsy I was advised to stay in not because of concerns for my child's health but because I was struggling to breast feed, I explained my husband had brought a breast pump for me to express into a bottle and feed the baby. Me and my baby were checked by a midwife and were supposedly fit for discharge. The next day my baby remained drowsy and when my community midwife arrived she was shocked that nothing had been mentioned in our discharge notes nothing had been mentioned about my babies jaundice or drowsiness. A blood test was performed we were contacted by the hospital a few hrs later were my baby had to be re admitted to special care due to neonatal jaundice less then 24 hrs of being discharged from trinity ward. My daughter spent a week on scbu were the staff were amazing. Trinity should be ashamed of themselves I'm a nurse and we are told to treat people whom we care for with dignity and respect this dosnt happen on trinity.
