What I liked
Orthopaedic team were excellent & when I was eventually transferred to the orthopaedic ward (ward9) the staff there were excellent & a real credit to the hospital with a real can do attitude to both myself & others. Taking the time to discuss my care with me. Also as I had a few issues during my stay I approached the PALS team who were excellent & have continued to help me even following my discharge. I am due to be admitted direct to Ward 9 in the future for surgery & have no concerns that I will receive high quality care
What could be improved
Prior to my transfer there were some issues with communication between medical & nursing staff in both A&E and assessment unit which I feel had an effect on my quality of care. Although once in the specialist area this was resolved
Anything else?
Parking. It would seem the hourly charge has been abolished with a one off charge of 2 pound. This is fair enough if you are on a one off visit but during my 5 day stay it cost my husband 20 pound in parking charges which is ridiculous as we were having to pay the same wether he was coming to visit for 1 hour in an evening or 2 hours during the day. Although he rarely had the full 2 hours due to having to wait for a considerable time to get onto the car park & find a space.
