"Christmas in Brocton ward"

My partner spent Christmas in Brocton ward. The MOD area is spotless and would meet all Ihis needs. However the general area have good clean rooms and others that could do with a complete overall. Some of the staff are very understanding, others are just doing a job.very noticeable.. At 3pm its like wacky races with all staff trying to get out of the car park at the same time. During his stay. He was not consulted And kept informed of his treatment plan. He also managed to self harm twice on the ward. Unbelievable in my eyes that it happened once let alone twice. His condition is quite complex and requires to be kept informed with reviews and any changes. Even tho this was explained to all levels of staff. He was rarely kept up to date. Causing several avoidable panic attacks. My partner seemed to be getting worse more than getting better during his admission. He was very frustrated at the amount of staff that sat in the office documenting the movements and behaviours of the patients rather than interacting with them. Most were left to sit and watch tv 24/7 other than medication administration very little interaction between patients and staff happened. On a good note certain staff were very kind. My partner previously had been admitted to Cheabsy Ward. I must pass on my admiration for the good care and support provided there.

I would ask that you contact the Trust’s Service Relations Department on 01785 783022, to facilitate a meeting with the Ward Manager and Modern Matron to seek resolution to your concerns.
