In May 2013 I suffered a car crash from which I was airlifted to hospital; both my wife and I were injured. Following on from this my GP felt I needed specialist treatment to help with the trauma, I was consequently referred to 6 degrees.
The first appointment came 6-7 weeks after the referral and I was seen by a male counsellor. What he had to say to me was not what I wanted to hear, he finally said someone else from 6 degrees would contact me within a couple of weeks but no one did.
I called them and spoke to someone and asked if I could speak to the manager. I received a call back from a manager who gave me information which contradicted that from her colleague and said I should not have been told someone would get back to me within a couple of weeks. This manager agreed to get back to me on 31 Jan but did not.
I called this manager today after she failed to do as she had promised.
During all this time I have tried to contact the counsellor directly as he gave me both his e-mail address and his phone number. I have not received a response from either. I asked the manager if the counsellor still worked for 6 degrees, he still works there but is not responding.
My wife’s GP is at a different practice, she was also referred for CBT but not to 6 degrees. My wife is halfway through her treatment and is coping much better.
Why does one GP practice and therapy centre offer a better service than the other?
