I am in Norfolk - my wife (the chef at our restaurant) is currently staying in Finchley because my father-in-law is in your hospital. She visits him daily, sometimes taking in a little freshly cooked food of her own. She says the level of care within his ward is of the highest standard both professionally and compassionately. It is good to observe that the majority of recent reviews substantiate our view that the staff at Barnet is, from top down, a shining example of how it should be throughout our universally admired National Health Service. As with any institution of this magnitude there are bound to be some exceptions and those are generally, for obvious reasons, the ones the media tend to focus on. That is a good thing as it draws attention, sometimes specifically, as in the case of mid-Staffs, to where immediate action has to be taken. When she broke her ankle my wife had excellent outpatient care and treatment at the Norfolk and Norwich UH (aside from the long wait in A&E) but logistically there's probably not a single hospital in the UK without even one employee problem. Hats off to Barnet though where my wife's dad is as happy as it's possible to be and being cared for by people who really have shown him their unconditional dedication.
