Following surgery for removal of a small lump I was diagnosed with non Hodgkin’s lymphoma in June 2012 and consequently referred to Haematology. I was placed on a “watch and wait” programme and attended the Rosemere Centre every four weeks for tests and consultations with the consultant regarding any signs of progression of the condition. My condition progressed over the winter of 2012/13 and I required a six month course of chemotherapy treatment. I’m now on a “maintenance programme” of treatment and visit every 8 weeks. From my first visit – which was a referral through my GP for to an “urgent – one stop assessment clinic” in the ENT suite, to current appointments in the Rosemere Centre, my treatment at Royal Preston Hospital has been swift and efficient. My reason for writing is to convey the absolutely superb support and treatment I have received both at the hands of the consultant and the staff within his department and the Rosemere Centre as a whole. Whenever I needed information or further details concerning my condition it was readily available together to reassurance and support throughout my treatment. This is so important at a critical time when both myself and family were extremely anxious about the future. At a time when the NHS is constantly being scrutinized and criticized it is important to give credit to the fantastic service, support and care of patients at your local Hospital. I really do not think that I could have received any better treatment anywhere in the UK – or indeed in the world!
