Admitted Aug 2013 from A&E advised needed TURP to reduce enlarged prostrate told catheter was needed up to op about 8-12 weeks, started to chase appointment for op Nov discovered I was due post op check up !!Who had had my op ? not me for sure. Finally 5 months later went for pre-op check on a tuesday, heart monitored, blood checked full examination by a doctor, told all was well, given shower gel to use and nose cream to administer for the next 3 days, told to report 7am friday, sat on bed then told by anaesthetist my pre-op had shown a heart murmour and the op could not go ahead until I had a ultra sound scan. Waited until 3pm for scan then sent home to await a doctor looking at scan and making a decision about my future treatment. Did I develope a heart murmour between tuesday and friday or was all that time a waste of both mine and NHS time when it surely should have been detected at pre-op stage. I am writting this for my 85 yr old father who is now waiting yet again.
"What are pre-op appointments for ????"
