"Cleanliness of hospital."

About: Queen's Hospital (Romford)

(as a relative),

What I liked

Cleanliness of hospital.

What could be improved

My mother in law has been in your hospital since August. She is 83 years old with Alzheimers. She fell and broke her hip and was admitted to have it pinned. The staff did not communicate with the relatives, or at times with each other. She seemed to be left for long periods of time, We think without drinks or food for long periods of time. When she was first admitted she was very ill and we all stayed throughout the day to make sure she was fed and had plenty of drinks. Since bringing in the new visiting hours we are unable to come along during the day to make sure she gets this help.

She has lost a lot of weight and now looks worse than ever. I think more care should be given to elderly patients and staff need to understand the illness of Alzheimers better as they cannot understand why she seems confused.

Anything else?

Car Parking is a problem and also the new visiting hours are awkward for working people as we have at least half an hours journey to get there after work, and in the rush hour this takes considerably longer
