"5 star care as an emergency admission at the JR"

About: John Radcliffe Hospital

I was very impressed with the care I received on ward 6c when I was admitted to the JR hospital on Dec 17th 2013. I was admitted as an emergency and was very confused for the first 24 hours of my stay on the ward. This was handled extremely sensitively and I was given full confidence in the team looking after me. I received a clear explanation of my medical care and the treatment required. I didn't feel I was being discharged before I was ready, if anything it was me wanting to get home as soon as I could with the doctors wanting to make sure It was safe for me to do so. I am also extremely grateful to both the paramedics and the team in A & E who gave me expert care which has enabled me to come through this with no lasting damage. Unfortunately I was unconscious for much of the time when in A & E and have no recollection of the short time I was awake so wasn't able to appreciate what was being done for me at the time. The atmosphere on ward 6c was very upbeat and everyone who came on the ward had a very positive attitude and nothing was too much trouble. The food was tasty and the portion sizes were good with a varied menu. Refreshments were offered on a regular basis. The staff also ensured that the food and drink was within reach. The catering staff were very polite and good humoured which added to the atmosphere. I feel sure that all these positives will help people feel better sooner.
