"Christmas in hospital"

About: Royal Shrewsbury Hospital

I spent three days in ward 26 over Christmas. I had a TURP operation on Christmas eve. The treatment that I had was excellent and the cleanliness of the Treatment Centre and the ward was first class. The food was good, and we even had a full Christmas Dinner! Yes, there is always something to moan about if you really look hard enough. People complaining about the parking ticket machine not working or the not quite immaculate magazine in the waiting area should really put these things into perspective. Running a hospital like this requires hundreds of staff. The ward that I was in was very busy , but the staff were calm efficient and smiling, even though they were giving up their Christmas to go into work so that we, the patients, could be treated. I think they are doing a fantastic job, sometimes with very difficult patients.

Dear Roger Thank you so much for sharing your experience of Ward 26 over Christmas. We're really pleased to hear that you found the treatment to be excellent and the staff were calm, efficient and smiling ... and also that you had a full Christmas dinner. The NHS relies on the passion and commitment of thousands of staff who come into work 24 hours a day, 365 days a year - Christmas and New Year included. We are incredibly grateful that people choose to take on such an important role that can take them away from their families at precious times, and it is great to hear that you feel this way too. Thanks again and please accept our very best wishes for your continued recovery following your TURP.
