After a dizzy spell at 11pm I fell down some stairs. I rang 111 who after some discussion sent an ambulance..The paramedic suspected as I did that I had broken my ankle and took me to A&E at Fairfield..After waiting in an empty waiting room the doctor called me through to a cubicle. After tellingher what had happened, she asked if I could wriggle my toes and move my foot, whichI could..She said "WELL THERE'S DEFINATELY NOTHING BROKEN JUST A SPRAIN WHICH WILL TAKE A WEEK OR SO TO HEAL, TAKE IBUPROFEN..she then held the curtain while I hobbled out of the cubile and told me reception will order me a taxi..I was in the cubicle 5mins tops..1 week later I had an appointment at my GP's to give bloods..When the nurse saw my ankle she asked if I would let one of the doctors have a look. My GP gave me a card and told me to attend the X-Ray department at Fairfield Hospital..After the x-ray I was informed that I had broken the fibula..They put me an ankle and back cast on and told me to report to the Orthapaedic clinic the next day..I saw the surgeon who arranged another cast put on from toe to knee and insisted that under know circumstance must I put weight on it and that I need to have it raised above hip high at all times or I will need an operation..I have had to go back for a second x-ray and was told it's going to be six weeks before the cast can be removed..If my ankle doesn't heal properly or I have to have an operation, I will sue the hospital for negligence...
