"Very Poor Treatment"
About: Hull Royal Infirmary Hull Royal Infirmary Hull HU3 2JZ
The treatment I have received from my consultant has been appauling. Nearly a year after first going to see my GP I am still awaiting any actual treatment. My consultant has stated that this is because my case is complex - surely a complex case would merit swift intervention to minimise any long term damage. I have a back injury - I would like to list what it is but at this time my consultant can't even offer a definative diagnosis, even though two physio's have been able to do so. After having an MRI scan where a clear problem can be seen and when my symptoms were unchanged, I was discharged from the care of my consultant because my "symptoms weren't consistant with the scan". Arguably if the consultant had read the scan correctly he would have infact realised that my symptoms are exactly what would be expected from my injury. After having to join the waiting list again to see the consultant, he refered me for treatment, without telling me the waiting time for that treatment. Nearly 3 weeks later I have just found out that I will have to wait for another 18 weeks before receiving treatment that at best will only result in a temporary fix to my injury. There hasn't been a day this year when I haven't been in pain, at times this year I have been unable to walk, but still no treatment is forth coming and I am now left having to make compliants and seeking legal advice to try and resolve what should be a very simple system and process. Patient identified as having an injury = patient receives appropriate and timely treatment. IS IT REALLY TOO MUCH TO ASK?
