"Mediocre care"

About: Whiston Hospital / Gynaecology

(as a relative),

Mum went in to 3E for an operation. Cannot fault the surgical team, domestic team and the majority of the nursing team. However upon discharge, her medications were not ready and she had not been given pain relief for over 10 hours (2nd day post op)

Her catheter was removed upon waking her up at 4am. In my opinion, this is simply not good enough.

I understand that the nursing team are short staffed but to wake someone up at that time to perform removal of a catheter after being instructed by the consultant that it could have happened at 5pm the day before seems inexcusable.
