"referrals and reviews"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

Anything else?

the consultant was very apologetic, my son was supposed to have a review of his epilepsy medication. He was seen in January 2013, and consultant put down on his report from appoint a 4 month review appointment should be given. In October we were still waiting to hear and indeed this had to be chased up by sons paediatrician, we were finally given an appointment in nov. But baring in mind my sons meds had been adjusted and needed review, this is very bad, im appalled at the general management of the hospital, we have had trouble with getting appoints and referrals from different departments, even urgent appointments for a child have taken 3 mths to get! appalling service generally, although for the main part the consultants seen have been fairly good, its just the management of the whole place that is very bad!

Response from Medway Maritime Hospital

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. I would like to sincerely apologise for the delay in arranging this follow up appointment and for any distress caused to your son and your family. Without more specific information it is very difficult to offer an explanation regarding how the delay occurred but I am happy to discuss and provide further information if you wish to contact me on the email address below. I have reinforced the importance of accurately recording follow up timeframes to all staff requesting a follow up appointment. Staff who are responsible for making the appointment have been informed to check patient records to determine if a follow up appointment is required and the importance of ensuring it is made within the required timeframe. Waiting times for new and follow up appointments will be monitored through our directorate governance reporting processes. I am pleased to hear you have been satisfied with the consultants at Medway Thank you again for taking the time to leave feedback, your comments have been shared with all relevant staff.
