Anything else?
I was admitted to the Day Case Unit and did not go through with the procedure for which I was admitted as I did not feel in safe hands at all by the nursing staff. A lady in the next bed to me had been back from theatre for two hours, and at no time did I see a nurse check her blood pressure etc, there was an extremely anxious lady waiting to go to theatre and not one of the staff aimed to allay her fears, the lady came and sat with me and talked about her anxieties. The staff were too busy talking about their Christmas than caring for their patients. Among the chaos were audible discussions about mix ups with theatre lists-hardly an experience to instill any confidence in patients waiting for procedures to be undertaken. As a medic myself, I declined to be cared for at MDGH and discussed my concerns with a nurse prior to leaving. I will refer back to my GP and request treatment at another hospital. I wish to make clear that this is no reflection on the consultant, merely the nursing team.
