"Treatment of next of kin December 2013"

About: Stafford Hospital

Anything else?

Followed dads ambulance from the care home to stafford a&e . Queued up at reception windows to check in to see dad. The lady asked if i were a relative without being prompted. I replied and gave my name, phone number and address and was told to sit in the waiting room for ten to fifteen minutes until called .Waited for 1 hour and gave up waiting and went back to the window and was immediately let in to my dads bedside. During this time ,my dad was confused about his history and why he was there, and the staff made a mistake without full information and nearly another without my intervention. The lady on the desk obviously made an error of judgement/ mistake or just was not interested . I dont know.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this feedback. I would appreciate speaking to you in person so that I can identify who the receptionist was on duty at the time of dad's admission to A&E. I am sorry that you had such a bad experience, particularly as this would have added to your worry at this very stressful time. I hope that dad is now feeling better and more settled either in hospital or back in his care home.

My direct line is 01785 887693 or if you prefer you can email me your contact number and I will phone you. My email address is: angela.grocott@midstaffs.nhs.uk

Kind Regards
