I went into Labour on 6th December. I was very scared as I had an horrendous experience there with my first child in 2011, so much so that we put in an official complaint afterwards. It all happened quite quickly ( I started to push in the Ambulance!) when I got to triage the midwife there took me straight to the Labour ward. I was greeted by two senior midwives. They introduced themselves and were very kind and caring. They put me at ease. They were very supportive during the labour I even got asked if I would like my baby on my chest. Overall the the labour was a very positive experience which I wish I had in my first pregnancy. Every midwife should be like these two people. On the postnatal ward I was able to get a side room as I get extremely anxious. It was clean and during the day the checks on my baby were regularly carried out and to a good standard. The only problem was that someone was supposed come and check him at 8.30 and no one did all night until the morning. There is a distinct difference in quality between the day time and night time staff. My husband believes that had my baby been delivered by someone other than the senior midwives then the quality of my care and labour would have been worse, which is a shame as we feel that all midwives should work to the high standard set by them. But overall my experience at Queens was a very positive one and I'll never forget them.
