"Letter from my psychiatrist"

(as the patient),

My Consultant Psychiatrist replied to a letter I wrote to him; his reply was very important to me and contained important information regarding my medications. It took 11 days to reach me because LPFT have changed the way letters are posted to patients. They now are sent to a central office for franking instead of being posted directly to the patient. While this is a money saving exercise, it caused me a lot of anxiety and worry regarding my psychoactive medications. Eleven days for a letter to reach me is unacceptable. The letter arrived today and my appointment with my psychiatrist is on Monday - In my opinion I needed to receive this letter at least a week ago. Poor show LPFT.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comment about the postal difficulties that you have encountered. Without knowing which area this pertains to it is difficult to comment.

The process for posting letters out to patients in the large hospitals such as Pilgrim Hospital and Lincoln County Hospital has always been the same, where all post goes to a central post room to be franked, this is done on a daily basis. Letters to patients about appointment times and medication information are always marked as first class.

I am very sorry that the lateness of your letter has caused you distress.
