"Maternity Department"

About: Leicester General Hospital

Anything else?

I am due to give birth at the LGI in Dec 2013. After hearing horror stories my views have turned negative. I attended the maternity assessment unit after havin a PV loss at 35 weeks. I live between Leicester and West Workshire but have chose to hae the baby here as I'm under a consultant due to pregnancy being "high risk" I called the maternity assessment unit in advance and I was advised by a wry Polite midwife (night shift) to come in. I got the the unit just before 8am to find no staff present. All 5 Members of staff were seeing to one patient who was the only one there and me in the waiting room. I was asked publicaly why am I here? To which I replied that I've already called up and I've had a PV loss. After waiting 2 hours I was told that I've got a UTI - so was placed on antibiotics. I argued and said its not a UTI. To which I was told it wasn't "the show" I later called my community midwife and explained things to her. She took a fine sample and confirmed that I do not have a UTI. She said its a loss due to the mucus plug protecting the cervix. These antibiotics made me very ill with nausea, indigestion and loss of appetite. I have had to call a few times to get some advice as he always found the night staff much more happier and polite. I just pray to god that I don't get miserable midwives on the day o my labour!!
