Anything else?
From start to finish I was included in what was being done, what drugs to have, and why ,I was never, ever left out of the loop and every single member of staff with whom I came into contact were cheerful, attentive, kind and very helpful. I have the impression that they all got on together as a team and as individuals who loved the job they were doing. The ward was spotless, as were the facilities, and the food was exceptionally good. I felt that as a patient, I was valued (I had 2 previous hip operations at another hospital, and could write a book on the appalling behaviour and attitude of staff there, and my after-op treatment was something out of a horror story; happy to tell anyone who might be interested!) Everyone at Torbay treated me like a human being, from the most excellent surgeon, anaesthetist and theatre staff, right to the cleaning ladies are absolutely wonderful, and I truly cannot praise everyone highly enough, or thank them sufficiently. Pain treatment was simply amazing; I wanted to run round the ward! It is 4 weeks today since my hip replacement, and I use one crutch only to get about, and frequently indoors simply use a walking stick, and have never recovered so quickly .from any surgery. I would commend Torbay Hospital absolutely whole-heartedly to anyone contemplating surgery of whatever kind, and should I ever need help again, would never attend anywhere else, in spite of the face that I dont drive and have no access to transport. My deepest gratitude and thanks to all concerned. Katherine Walker
