Admitted to ward L28 at 11am. Visit from the surgeon P Nix and the anaesthetist who were both very friendly and clear about what would be happening and happy to answer my questions. Meanwhile the nurses were really friendly and helpful and always smiling.
Went down for my op at about 1. 45. I was really stressed about the anaesthetic but they made it quick and easy.
Still felt panicked when I woke up and a bit delirious so I spouted loads of rubbish about having bad dreams and my eyes not working but to their eternal credit none of the recovery room staff laughed at me!
I was taken back to the ward and looked after so well, the nurses made sure I was comfortable by switching off the main lights, and checking on me regularly as I had a terrible headache. They were happy to let me lead my own recovery, didn't rush me and gave me pain medication when I needed it.
They were all so kind and thoughtful, and the discharge advice was really clearly given.
The toast was the best I've had in ages!
I wish I knew everyone's name as they were all fantastic but I only remember the staff nurse Siobhan and someone called emma(? ) Leach. I was a bit out of it! But everyone made the experience so quick and easy and I'll be eternally grateful! It's all routine to them but they clearly realised it wasn't to the patients and gave everyone really professional, individual care.
