What I liked
My eldery Father came to KGH via ambulance last night to Ix a sudden severe pain in his arthritic hip?subluxating.
The duty doctor spoke to my father in a high pitched baby voice as though he was a deaf and confused young child. She also directed all explanations away from him and his next of kin to me!
My parents and I were appalled at this patronising treatment but my father did not wish me to say anything at the time.
I am extremely angry that this has happened to my elderly, forgetful but extremely dignified father.
I am also very concerned that, without any suggestion from the hospital, he now needs stronger painkillers and a physio referral, which, thankfully I am able to organise. However, without me he would have not been aware that he could receive this and tried to struggle on alone.
What could be improved
All staff to show humanity and respect to people and appropriate medication on discharge.
