I am a 19 year old girl who has had chronic back pain since I was 11 years old and they still haven't figured out what is wrong with me (not cause it's rare but because they haven't bothered) I've been shipped from physio to physio, doctor to doctor and they just keep increasing my painkillers. I have also been misdiagnosed at least five times. I had an MRI on the 31st of July. They said my results would be in 2 weeks. Five weeks later I had heard nothing so I rang and they said the letter was in the post. Another few weeks went by and no letter. I rang again and left a message and they didn't ring me back (no one is ever manning the phones so I always have to leave a message but normally they ring back). So a few days later I rang again and a woman rang me back on a Friday and said that they would resend the letter on Monday. On Tuesday I got a phone call saying they couldn't resend my letter so just told me my appointment over the phone (26th November). This appointment takes me to 4 months after my MRI. 4 months of worrying. This is a Tuesday and I am at university on a Tuesday so I asked about flexibility and whether I could change. They said they were booked up till January so I said I didn't want to wait that long and just accepted the appointment for the 26th. I then sorted it out with university to be off that day and my best friend put a holiday in at work so she could come with me. A week before my appointment I got a letter saying that they had changed my appointment to the following week (yes I know it's only a week but I've been waiting 4 months and I've sorted it out to be this day). So I rang them and politely told them that it was unacceptable and that I couldn't do another day apart from the original 26th. They said to me that they could make it later and push it back to January. Are they kidding? So in the end I have had to keep the other appointment (3rd) and will have to sort it out at university and now I will have to go alone because no one can get it off. A few thoughts: 1. Do not go into health care if you don't care about people. 2. It's alright i will just suffer my entire life because no one wants to actually try and find out whats wrong with me :@ 3. Since my MRI there have been 1424 appointments (I didn't count weekends and I took into account that they work 9-5) so 1424 people are more important than me, baring in mind this is only people who have had an MRI on their back and only people who live in Hartlepool or the surrounding area so basically everyone is more important. I understand some people have serious conditions and need to be seen quickly and I don't mind waiting so they can get the care they need. But it is getting ridiculous.
